Yeongildae Maritime Pavilion (해상누각) — Pohang's sea-view deck

The Yeongildae Maritime Pavilion (해상누각) is a raised sea-view platform built over the water at Yeongildae Beach in Pohang. From here the whole Yeongil Bay arc, the red Space Walk and the city lights line up in one frame — which is why it is the beach's most photographed spot.

What the Maritime Pavilion is

Erected by Pohang City, the pavilion extends over the water so visitors can look back at the white-sand shore and out across Yeongil Bay. It is a public, open structure — no ticket, no reservation — and it doubles as the official marker for the International Fireworks Festival held here since 2004.

  • Best at golden hour and after dark, when the deck frames the city lights.
  • Step-free access makes it easy for families and strollers.

Best photo angles

Stand on the deck facing the open sea for the classic 'red Space Walk + bay' wide shot. Turn around for the beach promenade and the Hwanho Park ridge. On calm nights the water mirrors the lights, giving a second composition for free.

  • Blue hour (just after sunset) is the safest window for clean long exposures.
  • A wide lens captures the pavilion, beach and bay together.

Getting there

The pavilion sits on the Yeongildae sand, about a 15-minute taxi or city bus ride from Pohang Station. It is a short, flat walk from the main beach entrance and connects to the Hwanho Park – Space Walk loop.

  • From Pohang Station: taxi ~15 min, or city bus to the beach stop.
  • Park once and walk; the seafront is pedestrian-friendly.
